My Equipment

Telescope:

Meade LXD55 10" Schmidt Newtonian. Focal ratio f/4. Focal length 1016mm.

I use it on the stock mount on the stock tripod. The picture on the right shows the scope with a home made Hartmann mask in place. It makes it possible to achieve critical focus without using a laptop and software.

Also shown is my 60mm guide-scope and the 7"tft monitor I use to assist in camera operation.

Camera:

Canon 300D Digital Single Lens Reflex.

The camera is shown here attached to the scope in prime focus position. You will also note my modified focus wheel. I have installed a 6:1 reduction drive. This allows me 6 times the sensitivity in focusing the scope than the stock focus wheel allows. This modification has enabled me to achieve critical focus with this system. Shown here is the simple home made remote control that I use to control the camera's shutter.
